The Boyd-Quinson Mainstage, the St. Germain 2nd Stage, and Mr. Finn’s Cabaret are offering loyal Barrington Stage Company (BSC) audiences fantastic theatre and cabaret this season. Some new physical additions to BSC’s campus have also added excitement to downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

The Barrington Stage Company Gala this year honored Jessie and Bernie Wolfson who generously donated the Wolfson Theatre Center, a marvelous grand building in downtown Pittsfield that will house BSC’s administrative offices, costume shop, and rehearsal spaces. The Octagon House next to the Mainstage, which was formerly the admin offices, has been converted into much-needed staff housing. The Blatt Center’s St. Germain Theater has also been renovated, with an expanded stage and 26 new seats.

There is a short, straight line between BSC and Broadway with many theater luminaries performing in and attending BSC’s productions.  Lynn Ahrens, Ragtime’s lyricist, attended the opening of Ragtime which is running through July 15th. The list of actors and producers heading to Pittsfield for the opening of Company on August 10th is also quite impressive.

William Finn, in addition to his duties as Artistic Producer of the Musical Theatre Lab, can always be seen in Mr. Finn’s Cabaret enjoying some of the best nightclub performers on the planet.  This summer, don’t miss New York favorites Christine Pedi (July 16,17), Julie Budd (Aug 20,21), and Andrea McArdle (Aug 27-28) among others who will perform in his club, which like all good cabarets is located below ground.  In this case below the St. Germain 2nd Stage.

About #COTA

Center On The Aisle -- or #COTA) for short -- was founded by theater expert, Steve Schonberg in 2014, and the site now boasts a team of 15 expert writers and reviewers. Steve created the site to help casual theatergoers easily access informative and entertaining content to help them engage more with the theater, and make confident and informed decisions when selecting shows. With this mission, the #COTA team applies their deep theater knowledge and attendance at hundreds of shows a year to create the site's content. That's quite a task! Covering Broadway, off-Broadway, cabaret, dance, music and more, the #COTA team provides a range of valuable perspectives to inform and engage readers. After all, the theater is part of our history, heritage and cultural identity - it should be engaged in as often as possible. Welcome, again, to #COTA and please come again.
